Access Control Systems

An access control system is an authorization system that defines who can pass through a door, turnstile or barrier and when, for both people and vehicles, and records every passage. We install doors, turnstiles and parking entrances so they are all managed from a single software platform.

WHAT IT DELIVERS

What it adds to your building

  • 01

The right person, the right door.

Each person is authorized only for the areas they need, at the hours you set. Critical areas such as operating rooms, server rooms or archives get extra protection.

  • 02

A lost card is not a problem.

When a key is lost, the lock is changed; when a card is lost, it is revoked in the software with one click. Access for staff who leave is closed the same day.

  • 03

    Every passage on record.

Reports show who passed through which door and when. Reviewing an incident takes minutes, not hours.

  • 04

    Works with other systems.

On a fire alarm, doors on escape routes open automatically. When a door is forced, the camera view of that door appears on the monitoring screen.

SCOPE

What is included?

Components we install in an access control project:

  • Card readers (RFID), encrypted cards and mobile credentials where needed
  • Fingerprint and face recognition readers, in scenarios suited to the purpose and to KVKK (Turkish Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698)
  • Door control panels, electromagnetic and electromechanical locks, exit buttons
  • Turnstiles: tripod, full-height and speed gates
  • Parking barriers and license plate recognition
  • Visitor management and temporary cards
  • Central management software: access groups, time profiles, reporting
  • Fire alarm, camera and elevator integration
  • Network infrastructure and UPS power for continuous operation

PROCESS

How we build it

  1. Site survey

We inspect the doors, traffic volume, escape routes and door types on site, and decide with you how much protection each area needs.

  2. Access design

We define user groups, areas and time profiles. Who passes through which door, at what time, is answered before installation.

  3. Installation

Cabling, lock and reader mounting, control panels, turnstiles and barriers.

  4. Integration and testing

We connect the fire alarm, cameras and, if there is one, the time and attendance system; we test every door in normal, alarm and power failure scenarios.

  5. Handover and training

We train administrators on access levels and reporting and set up the scheduled maintenance plan with you.

TECHNICAL NOTES

What we look at in the design

Card technology matters

Older 125 kHz proximity cards are easy to copy. For new projects we recommend card technologies that operate at 13.56 MHz and use encrypted communication. If you need to keep using your existing cards, a phased transition is possible with readers that read both technologies.

Escape routes and the fire scenario

Doors on escape routes are installed to open on a fire alarm and when power is lost. We achieve this through the choice of lock type and a direct connection to the fire alarm panel. When security and life safety conflict, life safety comes first.

Biometrics and KVKK

Fingerprint and face data are special categories of personal data under KVKK and may be processed only under the conditions set out in the law. For purposes a card can serve, such as staff time and attendance, a card system is the better choice; biometrics should be planned only after your organization’s legal assessment. (Legal assessment is the responsibility of your organization’s legal counsel.)

We do not install access control on its own but together with the building’s other systems. At Medistanbul Hospital, we commissioned the door access control system in the same project as the nurse call, camera, network and Wi-Fi systems. From our base in Ankara, we run access control projects across Türkiye from site survey to maintenance.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How does a card access control system work?

When a card is held to the reader, its ID is sent to the door control panel. The panel checks whether this person is authorized for that door at that time, then unlocks the door or denies access. Every attempt is logged with the time and the door.

Is face recognition or fingerprint time tracking compliant with KVKK?

Biometric data is a special category of personal data and may be processed only under the conditions set out in the law. For time and attendance alone, card or PIN-based systems do the same job with less data. Ask your legal counsel for an opinion on your own case.

Should I choose a turnstile or a card reader?

They are not alternatives; they work together: the card reader verifies identity, and the turnstile lets only one person through at a time. Turnstiles suit busy staff and visitor entrances; for office and room doors, a door with a card reader is enough.

Is a time and attendance system the same as access control?

No. Access control manages who can enter where; a time and attendance system calculates working hours, late arrivals and leave. In most projects the time and attendance system uses the access control records, so we plan the two together.

What is anti-passback?

Anti-passback is a rule that stops a card from being used for entry again after it was read at entry, until it is read at exit. This way, a card cannot be handed back to the next person by someone already inside and used a second time. It requires separate readers at entry and exit.

Let’s plan together who passes through your doors.
