Cloud Storage

Enterprise backup solutions are systems that regularly take local and cloud copies of data on servers, virtual machines and cloud applications and restore it when needed. We decide with you what is backed up, how often and where; we build the backup infrastructure and hand it over only after testing that restores actually work.

WHAT IT DELIVERS

What it adds to your building

  • 01

Lost data is data you get back.

You restore a deleted file, a corrupted database or a failed server from backup. How far back and how fast you can recover is clear from the start.

  • 02

    Ransomware cannot reach the backup.

We keep at least one copy of the backup immutable or isolated from the network. Even if an attacker reaches your servers, they cannot encrypt that copy.

  • 03

What happens to the building does not happen to the data.

Against fire, flooding or theft, one copy stays outside the building, in the cloud or at another location.

  • 04

    You know the backup works.

A backup report that says “successful” is not enough. We run sample restores at set intervals and record the results.

SCOPE

What is included?

Components we install and configure in an enterprise backup project:

  • Installation and configuration of enterprise backup software such as Arcserve
  • Backup of physical servers, virtual machines (VMware, Hyper-V) and databases
  • Local backup repository: NAS or backup server with RAID disk arrays
  • Copy to the cloud or to a second location (off-site)
  • Immutable storage and a network-isolated copy
  • Backup of Microsoft 365 mail, OneDrive and SharePoint data
  • Backup schedule, retention policy and encryption
  • Restore tests and a disaster recovery plan

PROCESS

How we build it

  1. Data inventory

We map which data sits on which system, how fast it grows and which of it is critical to your business.

  2. Setting targets

For each system we answer two questions: how much data loss is acceptable at most (RPO)? How soon must the system be running again (RTO)? Backup frequency and infrastructure are chosen based on these answers.

  3. Installation and configuration

We install the backup software, the local repository, the cloud or second-site copy, and encryption. At Latanya Hotels, we installed Arcserve backup software and configured it for the hotels’ systems.

  4. Restore testing

Before handover, we test restores at file and virtual machine level and, where needed, for a full server. We measure the times and include them in the report.

  5. Monitoring and periodic checks

We set up notifications for failed jobs and tie restore tests to the maintenance plan.

TECHNICAL NOTES

What we look at in the design

The 3-2-1 rule

The widely accepted backup rule: keep at least 3 copies of the data, on 2 different media, with 1 of them outside the building. As ransomware risk has grown, adding an immutable or offline copy and verified restores to this rule is recommended. We build the plan within this framework.

RAID and sync are not backup

RAID keeps a system running when a disk fails; it does not bring back a file that was deleted by mistake or encrypted. Cloud sync folders also carry deletions and encryption straight to the other side. A real backup is a copy independent of the source that keeps previous versions.

Cloud data location and KVKK

The country where the cloud copy is stored matters for backups that contain personal data. Transfer of data abroad is assessed separately under KVKK (Turkish Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698). We encrypt backups on the client side and choose the cloud location according to your organization’s policy. (Legal assessment is the responsibility of your organization’s legal counsel.)

LAYER

Part of the Data Center & Cloud layer

This service sits on layer 4 of the building and is designed together with the other systems on that layer.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is the 3-2-1 backup rule?

It means keeping at least 3 copies of your data, on 2 different media, with 1 of them stored outside the building. This way a disk failure, a software error or a disaster at the building cannot destroy all copies at once.

Is cloud backup secure?

Yes, when it is set up correctly. The backup must be encrypted in transit and at rest, the encryption key must stay with you, and access must be protected with multi-factor authentication. A cloud copy is one of the most practical ways to keep a copy outside the building.

Can RAID replace backup?

No. RAID keeps the system running through a disk failure, but it does not bring back data that was deleted, corrupted or encrypted by ransomware. A backup is a separate copy, independent of the source, that keeps previous versions.

How do you protect backups from ransomware?

The most effective way is to keep at least one copy on immutable storage or isolated from the network. The backup system should also be accessed with separate accounts protected by multi-factor authentication. Regular restore tests show that the copy is actually clean and usable.

Do I need to back up Microsoft 365 separately?

For most organizations, yes. Microsoft 365 ensures the continuity of the service; long-term recovery of deleted or encrypted data is largely the customer’s responsibility. Protecting mail, OneDrive and SharePoint data with a separate backup solution closes this gap.

Let’s build your backup plan together so you know you can get your data back.
